Class 8 (English Assignment)
The
School Garden
A school decided to turn an
unused piece of land into a garden. The principal asked students to suggest
what should be planted. Some students wanted flowers because they would make
the school look beautiful. Others suggested vegetables because the school could
use them in its lunch programme. A few students thought the land should be used
as a playground instead.
The school formed a student
committee to study the choices. The committee found that the area received
enough sunlight but had limited water. They also discovered that vegetables
would require regular care, while some local plants could grow with less water.
After discussing the advantages and disadvantages, the students suggested
planting local vegetables and drought-resistant flowers in different sections
of the land.
The principal accepted the
suggestion and asked the students to review the garden after six months. The
students would compare the amount of water used, the cost of maintenance, the
usefulness of the garden, and students' satisfaction before deciding whether to
continue or change the plan.
